About Our Services

What primary services do you offer?
My primary focus is on skincare health and relaxation within a home-based spa environment. I also offer beauty enhancements like lash and brow tinting, lash lifts & brow lamination. To create a holistic approach, I also offer Reiki which I have practiced for over 30 years.

What skin conditions do you treat?
My primary focus is on women 40+ with peri and post-menopausal skin concerns like fine lines and wrinkles, age spots, hormonal acne and rosacea. I believe clients are best served by practitioners who work within their specific area of expertise. Because of this, I don’t offer gentlemen’s facials, but I’m happy to refer clients to another provider who specializes in those treatments.

Are you licensed and insured?
Yes! I am licensed and insured in the state of North Carolina by the North Carolina Board of Cosmetic Art Examiners and insured through the National Association of Complementary and Alternative Medicines (NACAMS).

Booking, Cancellation & Rescheduling Policies

Why do I pay a booking deposit?
Salons and spas have either a large cancellation fee or a pay-ahead booking fee. This is a common charge that covers the amount of time and setup required for a sanitary treatment.

Proper disinfection between guests takes time and energy.

Many clients prefer to pay upfront as it splits the cost into two lower payments, helping make your skincare services more affordable. The deposit is 50% of your total.

How far in advance can I book with you?
You can book your favorite time slot up to 30 days in advance. Occasionally I will open spots up 60 days out — just ask!

Do you allow same-day bookings?
I do not take same day bookings. However, you can book through the website 24 hours in advance if there is an opening. I also offer a waitlist if you don’t see your desired time slot.

Do you take walk-ins?
Because I work out of my home, I ask that you please do not show up without an appointment. It is highly disruptive for my family and my clients and puts us all in an unsafe position. Anyone attempting to book this way will be asked to leave the property and book online.

What is your cancellation and rescheduling policy?
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, simply log in to your Fresha.com account or click the Manage Appointment button in your confirmation email prior to the 24-hour window to make changes.

You are allowed up to one time to forward your deposit to a new appointment time. If you need to reschedule a second time, the appointment will be canceled and the 50% deposit will be retained by Mud & Lotus Skincare. You must create a new booking with a new 50% booking deposit.

All appointments that are rescheduled or cancelled with less than 24 hours notice, plus any NO CALL NO SHOWS will lose their deposit.
Clients will not be able to book future appointments if they habitually reschedule, cancel, no show, or arrive late. Rudeness or disrespectful behavior will also not be tolerated.

What if I’m running late?
If you are running late, please text or call to let me know your expected time of arrival. If you are more than 15 minutes late, you will be required to reschedule. If you arrive within 15 minutes, you will still receive the service at the full cost, however it may be shortened in order to complete for the next client.

What to Wear & What to Expect

What should I wear to my appointment?
We recommend you wear loose fitting, comfortable clothes and shoes. Please remove all jewelry prior to the service. This includes body jewelry if you have booked a facial with machines like high frequency. We have cotton wraps for you to wear during the service. Every effort is taken to ensure you are comfortable.

What can I expect at my appointment?
When you walk into the spa you will be instructed to take off your shoes and any loose items like coats and purses. Once you get comfy, we’ll have a chat about your individual needs and what you would like to achieve long term with your skincare.

We’ll go over your intake forms and discuss your current skincare routine. Once we have discussed your treatment, you will be given privacy to change into a robe and cozy up under the blankets of the treatment table. After your facial, you may browse skincare products. We will go over after care and future treatments that would be beneficial.

Treatments & Safety

Do you offer chemical peels?
In order to receive a chemical peel, you must first book a chemical peel prep facial. This facial is the first step and allows me to determine your health history, skin sensitivities, contraindications and peel needs. You must also be willing to use SPF 30+ daily along with the peel prep products included in your package. I would be happy to discuss your options at your next appointment!

What if I’ve had skin cancer? Can you still treat me?
It is always best to talk with your doctor first if you are interested in skincare services. If your doctor does approve, I have many gentle skincare products and treatments available that are safe for those with cancer.

What if I’m pregnant or lactating?
Due to the nature of laying down on a flat bed for an extended period of time, facials can only be performed safely in the first trimester. I have a bolster and pillow for added comfort. I also have many pregnancy-safe options for facials, and Reiki is a wonderful experience during pregnancy, however it is not recommended to get lash services due to the chemicals used.

Products

What product lines do you use?
I use several professional skincare lines to ensure the most customized facial for you. My own private line is ECO-CERT Certified natural and organic with no harsh or unnecessary ingredients. I also blend in Green Envee products as well as other professional serums and botanical masks, so I’ve got everything from an unscented hypoallergenic facial to a full aromatherapy facial and everything in between.

Can I purchase skincare from you?
Absolutely! After your appointment I will go over home care suggestions based on your skin type and budget. If you fall in love with an out-of-stock product, no worries! I can have it shipped to your door within a week in most cases.

What is your return policy on products?
Due to sanitation, skincare products are non-refundable. If a product reaction occurs, I will offer an exchange with a documented reaction such as a photo.

Conduct

Any clients who are rude, inappropriate, or argumentative in nature will not be allowed to book in the future. This is my home and you are my guest. I will show you kindness and respect, but I also expect that from you.
